MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

​

     2017 marks an exciting time for the Collin County Sheriff’s Office: the birth of a non-profit organization intended to support the individuals that work diligently to serve and protect our community.  We are proud to support every department within the Collin County Sheriff’s Office: Patrol, Detention, Dispatch, support operations and civilian employees.  I am thrilled to introduce The S.H.E.R.I.F.F. Fund (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) which will help us meet the emergency needs of our law enforcement family in times of financial crisis after a catastrophic event. The S.H.E.R.I.F.F. Fund acronym stands for the Sheriff’s, Homefront, Emergency Relief, Initiative, For, Family.  

 

     The emotional and financial effects a career in Law Enforcement can have on families may sometimes be difficult and overwhelming. When tragedy strikes law enforcement personnel, panic often sets in. Communities have scrambled to raise money for the effected families, such as selling t-shirts in an attempt to help fill the financial gap that a crisis may have caused. Tragedies, family emergencies or natural disasters often leave law enforcement personnel searching for ways to deal with this loss. In turn, this could compromise the safety of the public we serve. While these types of fundraisers have the best intentions, the results are usually never enough and the funds never come as quickly as one would hope. Equally as challenging are logistical elements like establishing bank accounts for cash donations, which only adds additional stress on an already emotionally-burdened family that should be focused solely on the grieving process. 

 

     We want our community and fellow employees to always be better prepared by having this non-profit organization in place.  By being pro-active in this endeavor, we can help eliminate some of that panic during a catastrophic event. We are here to provide emotional and financial support for our fellow employees.  This is exactly what The S.H.E.R.I.F.F. Fund intends to accomplish. By having this non-profit organization in place to begin preparing for the financial and emotional needs of the Collin County Sheriff’s Office employees in times of crisis before it strikes, we ensure that we are ready to help the minute it does. Just as important, this ever-present fund means we are able to ensure that the attention of our law enforcement personnel stays focused on protecting and caring for the citizens of Collin County.

 

The S.H.E.R.I.F.F. Fund purpose is as follows:

 

To support the Collin County Sheriff’s Office employees

To support community public safety

To assist families in financial crisis after catastrophic events
